The NOAH model is unique. It is a practical, human-rights based approach that helps disadvantaged, vulnerable older people to meet their basic needs.
It is a model of empowerment enabling people to take control of their own lives.
It is community based, facilitating community involvement and ownership.
And it creates a lasting, positive change in people's lives. Our model has a three-pronged approach:
Home: communal houses for the fit elderly and assisted living facilities.
Health: a primary health care clinic, health monitoring, expert care.
Happiness: community centres, social clubs and community outreach.
"We need to look at the whole person to address their needs: health, social, emotional and spiritual. It’s no good simply providing housing for the elderly if their health is neglected or they are unhappy and isolated." Dee Wills, NOAH Project Manager (2004 to 2009) |
